Accessibility
Accessibility at Hill City Hot Rods
We want every shopper to be able to browse our inventory, get a price and start a deal, whatever technology they use to do it. This page says where we stand, what we know is still wrong, and how to reach us if something here gets in your way.
The standard we build to
This site is designed and tested against WCAG 2.1 Level AA, the benchmark most commonly applied to retail websites in the United States.
Our status is partially conformant: most of the site meets the standard, and the exceptions we know about are listed below. We are not claiming perfection, because no honest site of this size can.
How we test
- Automated checks run against every change before it ships, so an inaccessible control cannot reach the site unnoticed.
- A manual keyboard review of the pages that carry a purchase — the home page, search results, a vehicle page, and every form — confirming each can be completed without a mouse.
- Colour contrast is checked against the standard rather than by eye, including the error messages on forms.

What we know is still wrong
- Vehicle photographs come from manufacturer and auction feeds. Each has a text alternative naming the vehicle and the view, but we cannot describe what is in an individual photo.
- Some third-party components — the financing application's lender widgets, embedded maps and the chat widget — are supplied by vendors and are not fully under our control. Tell us if one blocks you and we will provide the same service another way.
- Our testing to date is automated checking plus a manual keyboard review. We have not yet commissioned an audit by a third party or by testers who use screen readers daily.
We do not use an accessibility overlay
Some dealership sites install a plug-in that adds a floating accessibility button. We do not. Those tools sit on top of a site rather than fixing it, they interfere with the screen readers and browser settings people already have set up the way they like, and they have repeatedly failed to prevent the problems they advertise. We fix the site itself.
If something here blocks you, tell us
We treat an accessibility problem as a bug and aim to reply within two business days. Tell us the page and what happened, and we will fix it — and in the meantime we will complete whatever you were trying to do over the phone or in person. You will not lose a price or a vehicle because our website got in the way.
Call us, or send it in writing through the contact form — whichever suits you.
