Sell Your Truck near Lynchburg, VA
Hill City Hot Rods buys used trucks outright. You do not have to buy anything from us, the appraisal is free, and you can leave with a check instead of a vehicle.
Trucks are the single biggest part of what we stock — 10 on the lot right now, and the thing we get asked for most. Yours is a vehicle we want to put back out front, not one we would be wholesaling on. Family owned, and a Virginia dealer since 1987.
How it works
- 1
Tell us what you have
Call (434) 525-2256 or bring it by. Model, year, mileage and rough condition is enough to start — we will tell you on the phone whether it is worth the trip.
- 2
We look at it properly
We drive it, look it over properly and pull the history. Usually minutes rather than hours, and you are welcome to watch.
- 3
You get a real number
A firm offer, not a range. Take it or do not — there is no pressure either way, and no charge for the appraisal.
What your truck is worth depends on
We will not quote a figure without seeing the car, and you should be wary of anyone who does. These are the things that actually move the number.
Frame and underbody
The first place we look. Surface rust on an exhaust is normal on anything that has seen a Virginia winter; flaking, scaling rust on the frame rails is a different conversation.
What it has been asked to do
A truck that has towed and hauled and been maintained is worth more than one that sat. We look at the receiver, the wiring and the rear suspension — sagging leaves on low miles tells us it lived loaded.
Records over the odometer
A diesel with 180,000 documented highway miles can be worth more than a gas half-ton with 90,000 undocumented ones. Bring the folder from the glovebox; it is worth more than the history report.
Title, drivetrain and tires
A clean title is worth meaningfully more than a repaired one. We will also put four-wheel drive into high and low and actually drive it — a system that has not been used in years often will not engage.
What to bring
- The truck itself
- The title, if you hold it
- Your photo ID
- Any service records you have, however scruffy
- Both keys, if you have them
- Lender and account details, if there is still a loan
